Modern Approaches in SDEs & Data Assimilation

Next summer, from 26 to 30 July 2027, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Babeș-Bolyai University will host the STOCHASTICA Training School 2027, bringing together researchers and young scientists working at the exciting interface of stochastic differential equations, SPDEs, and data assimilation.

The school will explore a rapidly developing research direction: bridging rigorous mathematical models of stochastic systems with real-world observational data. Through lectures and scientific discussions, participants will investigate how observations can be systematically incorporated into stochastic models to improve their analysis, prediction, and calibration.

At its heart lies a fundamental idea: the future of scientific modelling is not about choosing between mathematical theory and data-driven approaches, but about bringing them together in a mathematically consistent and meaningful way.
