BBU, part of a winning consortium of a 10 million Euro project in the fields of cyber security and robotics

The Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca (BBU), together with other top European universities brought together under the coordination of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT DIGITAL), won a project worth 10 million Euros, financed by the European Commission, in the fields of Cyber Security and Robotics.

The SPecialized Education programs in Cyber securiTy and RObotics (SPECTRO) project  will take place over a period of four years and aims to provide educational programs in two of the key areas for the future of Europe: Cyber Security and Robotics, priority areas for the European Commission, considered some “among the cornerstones of digital and connected Europe”. The study programs initiated within the project will also include an important component of innovation and entrepreneurship, being offered by partners from seven different European countries. They will be oriented to the needs of the labor market, encourage and promote international mobility among teachers and students, while strengthening cooperation between academia and business. They will also contribute to reducing the current shortage of specialists in the aforementioned fields.

“BBU has the largest and most complex faculty in the field of information science (computer science), so I am glad to see that the two frontier fields at the international level, cybersecurity and robotics, are found at BBU through a prestigious international network, coordinated by the main European actor in European innovation/technology, namely the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT Digital) ,”

declares the rector of UBB, prof. dr. Daniel David.

The dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at UBB, prof. dr. Anca Andreica, emphasizes that

“the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science will strengthen its expertise in the field of Cyber Security and Robotics by participating, together with prestigious European partners, in this project, which will have a major positive impact on the training of students in these deep tech fields. By cooperating with the business environment, BBU will also contribute to the development of innovation in the field of Cyber Security and Robotics.”
