Abstract

This paper presents a new web based mechanism that brings improvements in download time and data traffic in the browser – proxy server – web server architecture. This new mechanism is intended to be deployed in enterprise networks having a significant number of web clients that access the Internet through a corporate proxy server. The paper discusses the benefits of this model and suggests a web service based implementation for it. Our model is perfectly interoperable with the existing web architecture and can coexist with classic entities of the browser – proxy server – web server architecture not aware of our proposed model. This facilitates a transparent in-time migration to the presented model, whose benefits are also presented.
