Proiectul isi propune cercetari in directia folosirii tehnicilor de cautare in dezvoltarea de soft. Ingineria soft bazata pe cautare este un domeniu de cercetare aparut relativ recent in domeniul ingineriei soft. In esenta, este vorba de reformularea multor probleme din domeniul ingineriei soft ca si probleme de cautare, cu alte cuvinte folosirea tehnicilor de cautare metaeuristice pentru rezolvarea diverselor probleme ale ingineriei soft: testare, impartirea in odule, estimarea costurilor, stabilirea cerintelor, integrarea sistemelor, evolutia si intretinerea sistemelor soft. Problemele legate de intretinerea si evolutia sistemelor informatice sunt esentiale, de aceea proiectul de fata isi propune aprofundarea directiilor de cercetare incepute in scopul elaborarii unor noi technici de cautare, in special tehnici de invatare automate, pentru rezolvarea problemelor esentiale ce apar in intretinerea si evolutia sistemelor informatice: refactorizare, idendificarea sabloanelor de proiectare, localizarea conceptelor, etc.
