Aims
Pursueing of the evolution of sciences in general and mathematics in particular; basis of a historic-mathematical culture. Development of the critic spirit in the field and of the respect to the scientific thesaurus.
Content
I. Introduction. Ancient Near East (Mesopotamia, Egypt). Ancient Indian mathematics. Greek and Hellenistic mathematics. Classical Chinese mathematics
II. Classical Indian mathematics. Islamic mathematics. Medieval European mathematics
III. The Renaissance in mathematics. The algebra of the cubic and quartic equations, the symbolic algebra
IV. The mathematics of the variable quantities (17th century). Logarithms, analytical geometry, differential and integral calculus
V. 18th century. General characteristics, Bernoulli-Euler, the mathematics of the French Revolution, science In the Romanian schools
VI. The modern mathematics. K. F. Gauss, non-Euclidean geometry, famous Romanian mathematicians, new contemporary mathematics, international trends in the developments of the mathematics (academies, journals, congresses), evolution of the computational techniques.
