Aims
Basic course in numerical analysis.
Content
1. Error Theory and Floating-Point Arithmetic.
2. Numerical solution of linear systems. Direct methods: GEPP, LUP decomposition, Cholesky and QR decomposition. Stationary iterative methods: Jacobi, Gauss-Seidel, SOR
3. Function Approximation: least squares approximation, polynomial and spline interpolation.
4. Linear functional approximation: numrical differentiation and integration. Newton-Cotes and Gauss quadrature formulas.
5. Nonlinear equations. Equations in R: successive approximation, Newto@s, secant method. Nonlinear systems: Newton@s and Broyden@s method
6. Differential equations. Runge-Kutta Methods.
