Aims
Presentation of the origin and development of the main concepts in mathematical analysis.
Content
In the framework of this course the introduction and development during the hystory of the following concepts are presented: real number, convergent sequence, convergent sery, uniform convergence, continuity, uniform continuity, derivability, integrability, functions with bounded variation, the lenght of a curve, the area of surfaces, the volume of bodies, Fourier series. We analyse practical problems comming from geometry and physics which lead to the introduction of these notions.
